Scots 1748 historically has been a clothing manufacturer specializing in quality garments,with emphasis in Cashmere knitwear, Silk & Cashmere, Ultra Fine Merino,and Pima Cotton (the Cashmere of Cottons).
An important add-on product which over the years has become as famous as the knitwear itself is the Cashmere Silk Wash which is proudly made in Australia. This year the Cashmere Silk Wash has been released on-line and to the wholesale market. Private labeling has been offered and in the first few months of release there has been a steady acceptance by the lingerie, knitwear and women's fashion trade.
History
Scots 1748 is owned and operated by the Bowie Family of Adelaide S.A. and for those of you interested in historical links. Originating from Kilmarnock in Scotland, Andrew Bowie was one of the early free settlers in Australia. According to historians the name ‘Bowie’ supposedly means ‘buyer’. The merchant traditions of the family are being maintained.

Was the year of the ‘Disarming Act’ which made it illegal to wear the tartan and abolished the clan system. It resulted in a flood of migration to Canada, America and eventually Australia and New Zealand. 1748 is a date dedicated to commemoration of the Caledonian exodus.
